He has been a semifinalist on America’s Got Talent, appeared four times on Penn & Teller: Fool Us, and been featured on Ellen, The Late Late Show with James Corden and The Today Show. He also performs as a Featured Guest Entertainer for Disney Cruise Line in their 1,000-seat theaters.
On stage, his signature keynote, Creating the Impossible, is part keynote, part world-class magic show and part live creativity experiment, using original magic to show how an idea moves from something that sounds impossible into something real.
Why This Episode Matters
Most people talk about creativity as if it were a gift some people have and others do not. Blake has spent his career inventing illusions for the biggest names in magic, and his answer is more useful than that. Great ideas come out of a pile of bad ones, and the people who create the impossible are the ones willing to keep experimenting long after everyone else would have stopped.
What makes this conversation stand out is how much of his path came down to persistence meeting chance. A kid who never put down his magic kit ends up in Las Vegas and London, makes the call to leave college to work with David Copperfield, and lands on film sets teaching Paul Rudd card tricks. None of it was handed to him. He kept showing up, kept trying things, and was ready when the door opened.
The lessons travel well beyond magic. Blake talks about leaving ego out of the room so a team can build on each other’s ideas, and about how the principles behind a great illusion apply to business and product design. If you lead a team that needs to solve problems without an obvious answer, this episode is a reminder that the impossible is usually just the thing nobody has kept working on long enough.
