Speaker Spotlight

Most AI Keynote Speakers Have Been Doing This for 27 Months. He Has Been Tracking the Same Forces Since 1995.

Mike Evans - Keynote Speaker

Mike Evans — Author of Distinct or Extinct · 34 of the Fortune 50 Are Clients · Former Executive at Kotter International, FranklinCovey and the Tom Peters Company

The AI speaking market filled up fast. Most of the people on it started paying attention somewhere around late 2022.

Mike Evans has been tracking the forces reshaping work since 1995, which is his own way of framing the difference: 27 years, not 27 months. In his view AI is the most recent accelerant rather than the original story.

He built his frameworks from executive roles at Kotter International, FranklinCovey and the Tom Peters Company, working directly with John Kotter on change acceleration, Stephen Covey on execution, Tom Peters on innovation, and Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner on leadership.

The Argument: AI Is Not Arriving Alone

The central idea in his signature keynote is that focusing on AI in isolation is the mistake. He calls it the 7-Sided Pincer Movement, a military term for an attack coming from every direction at once, and his position is that seven forces are converging on work simultaneously: AI, robotics, revolutionary software, globalization, outsourcing, digital disruption and disruptive competition.

A leadership team that prepares for one of the seven is not prepared. That framing is what separates his session from the standard AI outlook, and it is why the keynote works for an audience that has already sat through two of those.

AI doesn’t need more hype. What we do need is a grounded, optimistic perspective, one that shows how AI can become an ally. Mike brings exactly that. — Jack Zenger, CEO, Zenger Folkman

The answer he offers is the 5-Ingredient Kryptonite Defense: ideas, speed, talent, distinction, and leadership at all levels. He is explicit that these work as an integrated system rather than five separate tactics, and audiences leave with a 90-day roadmap rather than a warning.

What Planners Should Actually Note

Two things on his page matter more than the frameworks, and they are easy to miss.

His preparation process is unusually structured. Every engagement starts with a discovery call covering the outcomes you want, the mindset shifts you are after and the obstacles your people face right now, and the keynote is built backward from those answers. He also provides a workbook extending the content into 30-day action planning and sends a follow-up video 30 to 45 days after the event. For an organization worried that a keynote evaporates by the following month, that structure is the differentiator.

His testimonials come from repeat and encore bookings. The Institute of Internal Auditors describes him as one of their highest-rated speakers, invited back for the conference where they showcase encore presentations. Intel’s finance controller reported that he was consistently named the best part of the conference. Repeat bookings are a harder signal than a single glowing quote.

In over 30 years of attending conferences, seminars and breakout sessions, I have never seen anyone captivate an audience for an entire day the way you do. — Greg Klein, CEO, ITPC

He has five keynotes in rotation covering disruption, change leadership, accountability, exemplary leadership and culture, all available as breakouts or workshops. His book Distinct or Extinct came out in April 2026 and is available for bulk conference orders, and his earlier Achieve with Accountability was published by Wiley.
