This workshop addresses the critical need for social connection, offering social capital as a powerful antidote to loneliness. Participants will use an eco-map tool to organize their existing social connections and develop strategies to expand their network for greater connection. We will guide participants through Shawn Achor’s framework of Rocks, Pillars, and Extenders and use engaging activities, including neon green bouncy balls to illustrate ‘super-bouncers.’ The Virginia Reel discussion model is used to foster active discussion and participation, and to ensure all voices are heard. The workshop underscores that the power of social connection is essential for individual and collective well-being, particularly in combating the growing epidemic of loneliness.
