Speaker Spotlight

She Was a Registered Nurse Before She Ran Hiring for Health Systems. She Has Been on Both Sides of the Table.

Angela Pointer - Healthcare Leadership Keynote Speaker and Author of 24 Minutes to Win the Day

Angela Pointer, MS, BSN, RN — Author of 24 Minutes to Win the Day · President and Founder of AP Solutions · President-Elect, NAHCR · Maxwell Leadership Certified

Healthcare hiring is full of people who have never done the job they are recruiting for. That gap is small on paper and enormous in a room full of nurse leaders, who can tell within about a minute whether the person on stage has actually worked a floor.

Angela Pointer worked it. She is a registered nurse with nearly 30 years in nursing who then spent two decades in healthcare talent acquisition, leading the function across academic medical centers, integrated delivery networks, ambulatory care, and both nonprofit and private-equity-backed organizations.

She now runs AP Solutions, providing fractional talent acquisition leadership, executive search and leadership development to healthcare organizations, and she is President-Elect of the National Association for Health Care Recruitment.

Why the Dual Background Matters on Stage

A healthcare workforce audience is a hard room for a general leadership speaker. The stories do not translate, the pressures are specific, and the people in the seats have heard a lot of advice from people who have never been short-staffed on a Sunday night.

Angela can speak to both the clinical experience and the hiring machinery around it, which means she can talk about retention without treating it as an abstract metric and about recruitment without treating clinicians as a supply problem. That combination is genuinely rare, and it is the reason she gets programmed into healthcare recruitment, nurse leadership and HR agendas rather than only one of the three.

Her leadership work carries formal backing too. She is a Maxwell Leadership Certified Speaker, Coach and DISC Trainer, so the frameworks she teaches are established curriculum rather than something assembled for a keynote.

Twenty-Four Minutes Is a Deliberately Small Ask

Her book and signature keynote are both called 24 Minutes to Win the Day, and the number is doing real work. Most productivity advice asks an exhausted leader to redesign their week, which is exactly the kind of project that never survives contact with an actual week in healthcare.

A shift from reactive work to meaningful work, twenty-four minutes at a time.

The session gives an audience one simple repeatable system they can put in place the same day, aimed at the gap between being busy and being effective. It runs as a 45 to 60 minute keynote or as a longer workshop, and it fits leaders, HR and talent acquisition professionals, and any team where the volume of demands is the daily reality rather than an occasional crunch.

Four Ways to Program Her

24 Minutes to Win the Day is the productivity keynote, and the most broadly bookable of the four.

Everyone Communicates, Few Connect is the leadership communication session, built on John Maxwell’s book and on Angela’s own experience leading teams. Its premise is that passing information along is not the same as connecting with people, and it is the right fit for a group with engagement or trust gaps rather than an information problem.

Unlocking Human Potential is the Maxwell DISC assessment and workshop, an interactive format where participants get their own profile and then work on decoding the styles around them. It suits leadership teams, intact departments and offsites where collaboration is the agenda item.

Your Leadership Prescription is her student session, written for HOSA and future healthcare professionals, connecting leadership traits to patient care and career choices, and pressing students to see themselves as leaders now rather than later.

Full descriptions and takeaways are on her speaker profile.
