Healthcare hiring is full of people who have never done the job they are recruiting for. That gap is small on paper and enormous in a room full of nurse leaders, who can tell within about a minute whether the person on stage has actually worked a floor.
Angela Pointer worked it. She is a registered nurse with nearly 30 years in nursing who then spent two decades in healthcare talent acquisition, leading the function across academic medical centers, integrated delivery networks, ambulatory care, and both nonprofit and private-equity-backed organizations.
She now runs AP Solutions, providing fractional talent acquisition leadership, executive search and leadership development to healthcare organizations, and she is President-Elect of the National Association for Health Care Recruitment.
