Nesha Pai was sitting across from a boss who had just dismissed her for the gap in her résumé left by raising her son. She stood up, quit on the spot, and went home to build her own firm from the kitchen table, as a single mother with one client and no backup plan.
That firm now provides accounting and financial oversight for more than 80 businesses generating over $200 million in combined annual revenue. It was also one of the first fully remote, cloud-based outsourced accounting firms in the country, built on a remote model long before remote work was normal.

It Started at Arthur Andersen, Before Enron
Nesha began her career at Arthur Andersen, before the Enron collapse brought the firm down. What stayed with her from those years was not a technical lesson. It was watching the distance that can open up between an organization’s stated values and its everyday behavior, and how quietly that distance grows when nobody is paying attention to it.
Years later the kitchen-table moment taught her the same thing from the other side. Nobody builds a firm in one heroic decision. They build it in the hundreds of small, unglamorous choices that come after, most of them made on days when nobody is watching.
Her clients have a name for what that looks like in practice. They call her The Momentum Maker, for her ability to create sustained progress in places where other people stall.
Why Consistency Wins in a Complex World
Business has never been more complex. AI is reshaping industries, change is constant, and leaders are under relentless pressure to move faster while delivering more. Most organizations assume complexity is the reason they have lost their edge.
Nesha thinks they are solving the wrong problem. In a single year she weathered her sister’s sudden death and a breast cancer diagnosis, and came out the other side without her firm skipping a beat.
