About Nita Marquez

Nita Marquez is the inventor of DropCut™ Technology, the first no-hardware, bathroom-access mechanism ever engineered into a jumpsuit, and the foundation of a movement she calls Freedom Fashion. She has spent more than 30 years building a career at the intersection of performance, biofeedback, and reinvention.

As Founder of OnTheMarq LLC, established in 2017, Nita turned a single engineering breakthrough into a global product line, a publishing arm, and a coaching brand. What began as a problem nobody in the apparel industry had bothered to solve is now protected intellectual property with active licensing partnerships expanding DropCut™ Technology across multiple brands.

Her athletic record runs just as deep. Nita is a two-time Miss Fitness Arizona and a former National Fitness Champion who placed 7th in the world across 46 countries, and she competes as an IFBB Pro athlete with more than three decades of experience at the national level.

That competitive background became the basis for her work in performance science. As a Behavioral Health Facilitator and biofeedback expert, Nita created the CHAMPION Life System, a framework for performing under pressure that she built while raising three children as a single mother and working through severe personal struggles.

Her book, Dropping Bombs: How I Reinvented Myself When I Invented the DropCut™ (Rushmore Publishers, 2026), tells the story behind the invention and the reinvention it demanded of her. Her motto: the challenged are the chosen.

Why Book Nita

  • Rare category-defining IP. A patent-level engineering story. DropCut™ is the only mechanism in its category with zero hardware, while competitors rely on snaps, zippers, or buttons.
  • Founder-to-licensor journey. A working case study in product-market fit, IP strategy, and brand building, from a single concept to a licensed multi-brand company.
  • Performance credibility. National-champion discipline applied to entrepreneurship, backed by the CHAMPION Life System framework for peak performance under pressure.
  • Media-tested. Camera-ready across keynotes, fireside chats, and workshops, with a strong track record of press placements.

How a single mother turned a dead end into a problem-solving invention nobody else in the fashion industry had built. Nita walks an audience through the moment she identified a real category gap, the decision to protect it rather than talk about it, and the work of building a brand on top of it.

This is a practical look at the unglamorous middle of invention. The prototypes that failed, the patent process, the manufacturing conversations, and the difference between having an idea and owning intellectual property. Audiences leave with a clearer sense of what it actually takes to move something from a sketch to a licensed product line.

Ideal for: Innovation teams, entrepreneurship programs, engineering, business, and design students

Drawing from her book, Nita unpacks what it actually takes to reinvent a career, a body of work, or an identity, and why the win beyond the hardship is not only the story you tell but the way you serve afterward.

This is a talk on resilience that refuses to succumb to the struggle. Nita is direct about what she carried while she was building, raising three children on her own and working through severe personal difficulty, and she is equally direct about the choices that moved her forward. Her motto runs through the whole keynote: the challenged are the chosen.

Ideal for: Leadership offsites, women's conferences, university commencement, panels, and speaker series

A biofeedback-informed framework for peak performance, built from three decades of national-level competition and refined through Nita's work as a Behavioral Health Facilitator.

The session gives teams and individuals practical tools for regulating stress, holding focus, and recovering quickly when things go sideways. It is grounded in how the body actually responds to pressure rather than in generic motivation, which makes it useful for people who have to perform on a schedule they do not control.

Ideal for: Corporate wellness programs, HR-led offsites, athletic and performance-science departments

Why the biggest opportunities are often hiding in plain sight, inside products everyone already accepts as good enough.

A design-thinking talk on category creation, told through the lens of building a functional-fashion movement from scratch. Nita shows how to spot the assumptions an entire industry has stopped questioning, how to test whether a gap is real or imagined, and how to build something defensible once you find one.

Ideal for: Business schools, product and design teams, retail and consumer-goods conferences
