About Ryan Vet

Ryan Vet got his start because people wanted to know why Millennials weren't buying houses. Millennials weren't old enough to buy houses yet.

A two-time USA TODAY bestselling author and generational futurist, Ryan studies how each generation is formed and what that formation is about to cost or gain the leaders responsible for them. Today that question runs straight through artificial intelligence. Humans formed the machine. Now the machine is forming humans.

AI is not a topic he picked up when it became fashionable. Ryan built his first investor pitch deck around AI in 2010, more than a decade before ChatGPT, when the work meant big data, machine learning and predictive algorithms sketched on whiteboards. He has since founded four AI-driven startups across real estate, learning management, facial recognition and more. He has raised the capital, hired the engineers and shipped the products.

He incorporated his first company at fourteen and has spent more than two decades founding and running businesses, including a stint as President of a venture-backed firm, leading teams across all five generations in today's workforce. His original frameworks, the Generational Prism, the Generational Pendulum and the Velocity Gap, came out of those rooms rather than a research library. The Velocity Gap names the distance between how fast a technology like AI spreads through a culture and how slowly human wisdom, ethics and guardrails catch up, and it is where he believes the hardest leadership decisions of this decade will be made.

That practitioner edge is why his keynotes are operational rather than motivational. Ryan has delivered more than 1,000 live presentations across 45+ states and four continents for corporations and associations, for organizations ranging from startups to Harvard and Samsung. He is a member of the NSA Million Dollar Speakers Group and an eSpeakers Certified Virtual Presenter. His writing has appeared in Forbes, and he has been quoted in Newsweek, Fast Company, the Financial Times and USA TODAY. He hosts The Ryan Vet Show, with 100,000+ YouTube subscribers, and writes COLLIDE, a weekly newsletter on generations and technology read by more than 24,000 leaders.

Based in Durham, North Carolina, Ryan travels nationally for in-person events and delivers virtual keynotes for corporate, association, healthcare and financial services audiences.

Signature Keynote • AI, Generations & Leading Through Change • Keynote or breakout, 45 to 90 minutes • Best for: leadership teams, corporate and association conferences, organizations navigating AI and a five-generation workforce at the same time.

The future is not arriving one trend at a time. It is arriving all at once. Five generations share the workplace, AI is changing how people think, communicate and decide, and cultural expectations are shifting faster than policies can be rewritten. An organization does not become futureproof by correctly guessing everything that will change. It becomes futureproof by understanding what changes, recognizing what repeats and protecting what people will always need. Using his Generational Prism and Generational Pendulum frameworks, Ryan moves audiences past stereotypes to the patterns underneath generational behavior, then explores the Velocity Gap and one of the defining leadership questions of the next decade: which friction should be removed, and which friction must be preserved.

Your Audience Leaves Able To

  • Read behavior without stereotypes by separating age, cultural moment and generational label.
  • Recognize the recurring patterns that predict how people respond to technological, economic and cultural change.
  • Separate unnecessary friction from the formative friction that develops capable, resilient people.
  • Apply a human-centered framework to communication, culture, AI adoption and organizational change.

AI Adoption & Digital Transformation • Keynote, breakout or panel, 45 to 90 minutes • Best for: corporate leadership teams, healthcare organizations, financial services firms and any organization navigating AI adoption at the strategic level.

Your team knows AI is coming. They are just not sure what to do about it. Most organizations are stuck in one of two places: paralyzed by fear or drowning in hype. The leaders winning with AI are not the ones with the biggest budgets; they are the ones who moved first, moved smart and brought their people along. Drawing on more than 15 years building AI-powered companies, Ryan breaks down the practical steps from curiosity to implementation and addresses the human side of transformation head-on. This is not a technology talk. It is a leadership talk about technology.

Your Team Leaves Able To

  • Identify where AI creates the most value in the organization, not just the flashiest applications.
  • Build a realistic, phased roadmap for AI adoption the team will actually follow.
  • Address the fears and misconceptions keeping people stuck in the status quo.
  • Lead transformation with purpose and clarity, not panic and buzzwords.

Most Requested Keynote • Generational Dynamics & Leadership • Keynote, breakout or workshop, 45 to 90 minutes • Best for: corporate, association, healthcare, education and faith-based audiences.

Boomers, Xers, Millennials and Gen Z all share a Slack channel, and nobody is talking. The generational divide is not a soft problem; it costs organizations real money in turnover, lost productivity and missed innovation. Ryan unveils The Generational Pendulum, his research-backed framework mapping the seven forces that shape every generation: religion, sex, politics, education, economics, communication and technology. Those forces explain why generations differ and reveal predictable patterns leaders can use to get ahead of what is coming. It is not a keynote about labeling people. It is a keynote about leading them.

Your Audience Leaves Able To

  • Improve retention and morale across generational lines, starting this quarter.
  • Communicate across generational values without watering down the culture.
  • Create buy-in across teams with drastically different worldviews.
  • Reduce workplace tension by understanding what is actually driving the divide.

Ryan Vet is the most forward thinking influential speaker I have heard in a long time. He gets to the nitty-gritty of whatever topic he's talking about and he knows it well. Everyone in the room leaves with a list of how they can improve on whatever the topic is that he is talking about.

Janette Douglas, JD Dental Consulting

As a speaker coach, I'm always both listening and evaluating speakers whenever I'm in the audience. Ryan Vet is always a pro, but I just saw him deliver a brand new Keynote to open a conference. This is not an easy thing to do and yet he was so engaging, so inspiring and made it look easy. I would HIGHLY recommend Ryan for your program!

Margy Schaller, Laser Pointer Presentations

Totally phenomenal presentation. Better than an TEDtalk...honestly. Now I am more cognizant of the specs between the generations within the workforce and life.

Olydia Willis, Admin Specialist, University of Tennessee College of Dentistry

Ryan did a presentation for our business at the Angus Barn and did a phenomenal job! He was well prepared, knew his audience and did a great job engaging them. I love the use of relevant, relatable stories and humor mixed in. The audience was hanging on every word and the response for the attendees were all positive!

Gib Davis, Genesis Business Advisors

Working at 6 different locations for a large DSO, I have to deal with a variety of employees of different ages and backgrounds. The information I learned about values and expectations from each generation provided me with a valuable tool when I go back to work in terms of interacting with staff.

Adrian Codel, Dentist, Western Dental

[Ryan] was captivating, inspirational...and timely. He was relatable and relevant. I would highly recommend him for any organization that is looking for a great keynote speaker.
