It also draws easily from New Orleans and Mobile, which widens your catchment without widening your spend.
Two scheduling notes
Hurricane exposure runs from summer into late autumn, so agree cancellation and rebooking terms at contracting rather than while a storm is in the Gulf.
And check the football calendar for autumn dates. Home weekends at either university affect accommodation and attendance well beyond the campus towns, and a bye weekend, an away weekend or a midweek date solves it.
The framing to avoid, restated
No rankings. No poverty framing. No inspirational arc built on the state's reputation. And be careful with the affectionate version too, because a visitor being warm about a place they do not know still reads as a visitor explaining that place to the people who live in it.
