Keynote Speakers in Texas
Texas is not a market. It is five markets that happen to share a state government, and several of them are larger than entire states elsewhere. Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin and the West Texas and border regions have different industries, different cultures and largely separate event calendars.
Which means the word Texas tells us almost nothing on its own. A speaker who is right for an energy audience in Houston is frequently the wrong choice for a technology audience in Austin, and a room in Lubbock or McAllen is different again. The first question we will ask is which city, and the second is what industry.
The distances compound it. Houston to El Paso is further than New York to Chicago. Statewide associations here rotate host cities not out of fairness but out of necessity, because no single location can reasonably draw the whole membership. If you are planning a genuinely statewide event, that rotation history matters more than the venue.
Joel Zeff is based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which for a Texas booking is a meaningful practical advantage on travel as well as a speaker who knows the room.
Nine of our speakers live in Texas. Johnny Quinn, Amberly Lago and Joel Zeff are in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and Alex Weber, Mike Sarraille, Cassandra Britton and Brad de Comarmond are in Austin, Jake Thompson is in Frisco and Toby Brooks is in Waco, between the two. In a state this size that matters more than usual: a Texas-based speaker reaches Houston, Austin and San Antonio without the connecting flight that makes a Texas booking cost more than the fee suggests.

Where Texas Events Actually Happen
Dallas-Fort Worth is the corporate and association centre, with a deep headquarters base, major convention capacity in both Dallas and Fort Worth, and the airport connectivity that makes it the default choice for national events that want to be in Texas. It is also the easiest market in the state to reach from anywhere else in it.
Houston is defined by energy and by an exceptionally large medical and research complex. Those two audiences dominate the calendar and neither responds well to generic business content. Energy audiences in particular are technical, cyclical in mood depending on prices, and unimpressed by outsiders explaining their industry to them.
San Antonio combines a very large military presence, healthcare, and a strong convention and tourism sector. It is a popular association choice because it is affordable relative to Dallas and Houston and the riverwalk hotel base supports multi-day programmes well.
Austin is technology, state government and higher education, with an audience that skews younger and more sceptical of traditional corporate framing than anywhere else in the state.
West Texas and the border regions, including Lubbock, Midland-Odessa, El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley, carry energy, agriculture, logistics and healthcare programming with their own regional character and considerably tighter budgets.
The Industries That Shape the Room
Energy. Oil, gas, petrochemicals, refining and a rapidly growing renewables sector. Safety culture is a permanent theme and the mood of the room tracks commodity prices closely. See our safety speakers.
Healthcare. Houston's medical complex is among the largest concentrations of clinical and research activity anywhere, and there are major systems in every metro. See our healthcare speakers.
Technology. Austin anchors it but DFW carries substantial enterprise technology and telecom activity too. See our digital transformation speakers.
Real estate and construction. Sustained population growth keeps brokerage, homebuilding and commercial development unusually active, which makes agent and broker events a reliable part of the calendar. See our real estate speakers.
The scheduling constraint that catches people out
Hurricane season runs from June through November and peaks in late summer, which is a genuine consideration for any Gulf Coast event, Houston included. It is not a reason to avoid those months, but it is a reason to ask about the cancellation and rebooking terms in your speaker agreement rather than discovering them during a storm watch.
The related point is heat. July and August outdoor components do not work the way they do elsewhere, and speaker travel through Texas airports in peak summer carries a meaningful delay risk. Build in the earlier arrival.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you have Texas-based speakers?
Yes. Joel Zeff is based in Coppell in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which removes most of the travel cost for a DFW event and reduces it substantially for anywhere else in the state.
Which Texas city should we choose for a statewide event?
Dallas-Fort Worth is usually the most reachable, and San Antonio is often the most cost-effective for multi-day association programmes. If your membership is genuinely statewide, ask us about rotating rather than defaulting, because no single city draws the whole state well.
Do you have speakers who understand energy audiences?
Yes, and we will be straight with you about which bring direct sector experience and which bring a transferable message. Energy rooms are technical and they can tell the difference immediately.
Should we worry about hurricane season?
For Gulf Coast events between June and November, ask about cancellation and rebooking terms at contracting rather than later. It is a straightforward conversation before you sign and an expensive one afterwards.
How far in advance should we book?
Ninety days or more for a state association annual or a major convention. Texas association calendars are competitive and the strongest spring and autumn dates commit early.
